The Shuswap Food Action Society hosts the Coldest Night of the Year. Ok Rawsome proudly donates 5 cent on every box of Rawsome Crisps sold per year to the Shuswap Food Society:)

For you to know:

The Coldest Night of the Year is about caring for the hungry, hurting and homeless in communities across Canada.

For Shuswap Food Action, our focus is on the hungry and ensuring everyone has food security. One such focus is ensuring that our kids, in 26 schools and Strong Start programs across the Shuswap and North Okanagan, are well nourished. We are expecting to serve close to 80,000 meals by the end of this school year; as of the end of January, we have already served 42,568.

It is important to us to create a culture of caring for each other through food which has many benefits. We've served 3 community organizations and social service agencies through our Souper Meals program —providing our nourishing meals to some of our most vulnerable community members.

Another important benefit is helping to grow our local food economy, creating food security for the future. This year, our programs have already purchased $64,000 of food from over 30 different farmers.

Through our garden programs, we will continue to grow food with amazing volunteers and students and share our goal of 6000 lbs. of fresh produce, reach more than 50 youth through our Youth Garden Contest, connect with many families through the John McLeod Community Garden and teach a variety of garden and food self-sufficiency skills.
